A Gay Prince for New York?

According to a on set spy, the new NBC show, Kings, follow the tale of a commoner who saves the Prince, and then is granted a lot of royal access.  Apparently the king favors the heroic commoner because his actual son is - gasp - a queer!  With a boyfriend to boot!  We’re not thrilled that even in this alternative reality the gays are faced with inequality, but if we get some prime time action between Sebastian Stan (above) and Michael Arden, we’ll deal.  And we have high hopes the true prince will prevail in the end.  (via Gawker.)

I linked this to R after she had already posted it, so it seems somehow fitting for me to re-blog it.

Speaking of queer issues: I attended Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert last night. It was truly inspiring and wonderful. Some highlights included the cast of HAIR, Bebe Neuwirth doing a Mad Libs version of “All That Jazz”, Jane Fonda (yes, that is her real Twitter), Seth Rudetsky, Harvey Fierstein’s Letter to the President, and of course my beloved Spring Awakening cast (both original and closing members) doing a modified version of “Totally Fucked.” All in all, though, I think I was most starstruck by a) Bob, Gina, Luis, Gordon, and Maria from Sesame Street; and b) KEITH OLBERMANN, who gave a speech that included an excerpt from his Anti-Prop 8 Special Comment. What a night!

EDIT: Popnography’s recap reminded me that the Purple Haze version of the “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” dance was also an AMAZING highlight of the night.
